Improving website or blog speed is one of the best things a website/blog owner can do. I was shocked a few days when i checked one of my websites in alexa and i got the following message
“Very Slow (14.165 Seconds), 100% of sites are faster.
Note: Slow sites may be penalized by search engines”
I have to admit that i was truly shocked by the result. I am not saying that i believed the Alexa info, i am very sure that the details alexa gave me where not accurate.
It is not the first time i differ from Alexa, i am very sure that i have been getting wrong info from the statistic giants before. Look, i have a site which gets more than 50,000 visitors per day and it ranked number 190,562 in alexa yet one of my other sites which gets only 4,000 visitors is number 9,856 in Alexa.
Never the less, i took the information about my website speed seriously, well, i know very well that 100% of the sites on the web can not be faster than my site, but i discovered that it was time to work on my website speed
I am now experimenting two projects with 2 sites which i own, one of them is a WordPress blog, so i downloaded the WordPress Super Cache plugin on it. The set up was really simple than i had thought. I have come to realize that my website speed has increased on that blog though i have just used the plugin for a few days. From today, i will recommend any one who wants to increase WordPress website speed to use the WordPress Super Cache
The real problem came with my second site, it is a website, not a blog and sadly, there was no way i could use the WordPress super Cache. But all hope was not lost, i decided to use CloudFlare
CloudFlare has worked well for me. The only problem will be at set up. You must have access to your DNS servers so that your can point them to Cloud Flare
After a few days, i have realized that there is a very big change in my website speed.
